Meet Your Farmers

Marykate Glenn - Farmer

Mustard Seed Farm grew out of connection with Moriah Pie and Parish Farm in Norwood, Cincinnati Ohio. In 2017 I began working with the Parish Farmers, who ran a pay-what-you-can pizza restaurant called Moriah Pie (now a cafe open 7am - 11am Wed, Thu, Fri, 1766 Mills Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45212). After growing for organic market farms and sliding scale CSAs for the previous ten years, I learned a lot from the Moriah Pie community and Mustard Seed Farm is how I'm deepening that connection.

Mustard Seed Farm is founded on the understanding that opportunities for healing abound when we connect to the landbase- we reconnect to culture, place-based knowledge, and we internalize that our health and the health of the land are woven together.

Lindsey Melling - Farmer

Lindsey moved to Cincinnati in 2009. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati's DAAP program in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Science in Graphic Communications Design. After college, Lindsey spent 3 months road tripping through the western US volunteering on farms in Montana and Oregon through WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). In 2017, she earned her RYT-200 hour certification in Ashtanga Yoga. Lindsey worked as a graphic designer full-time for 3 years before becoming the Assistant Farm Manager at Dark Wood Farm in 2018. In 2019, she completed a 12 week foraging course to deepen her connection to the land around her and learn how to use the foods and herbs that abundantly surround us. She started Effloresce Herbals in 2020 and in 2021 she completed the Botanical Skincare course through the Herbal Academy. She is currently in her 6th year farming.

Lindsey is passionate about connecting people to their food and our planet, sustainable agriculture practices, and providing healthy, local food, herbs and herbal products to her community.

"Through the interwoven daily practices of art-making and farming, my work seeks to imagine the future flourishing of land, creatures, and neighbors. My oil paintings are inspired by the plants I engage with daily, but reimagine them in whimsical colors and playful, painterly forms that speak to a communally-thriving vision of the future, beyond the shadow of the climate crisis, capitalism, and anthropocentrism.
